Origin[edit]

Widely distributed throughout the Indo-Pacific, from East Africa to Hawai'i.

Sexing[edit]

Not sexually dimorphic, close examination required.

Tank compatibility[edit]

Peaceful, although may nip at Stony Coral polyps on occasion.

Diet[edit]

Cleaner. Will remove parasites from fish. While usually a finicky eater that only cleans, it is known that they may take to Cyclops, and Brine Shrimp.

Feeding regime[edit]

Daily, at least twice per day.

Environment specifics[edit]

Well established Reef tank with multiple large fish it can clean.

Behaviour[edit]

Placid. Will clean parasites, mucus, and dead skin off of other fish.

Identification[edit]

White, with a black stripe running horizontally to advertise its cleaning services, and a white-to-blue body. Can be differentiated from the False Cleanerfish by its pointed mouth, compared to the downturned mouth of the False Cleanerfish.

Notes[edit]

The first captive breeding of this species was unintentional, accidentally bred alongside Clarion Angelfish, the originally intended species to be bred. They were stocked with the angelfish to provide cleaning services to the angelfish. Subsequent fry was collected, and raised alongside the angelfish fry.
