Tank compatibility[edit]

This fish can be quite aggressive and nippy towards tank mates and will fight with other Puffers, Filefish and long-finned fish. It is best in a fish-only or a FOWLR tank as it is not safe with invertebrates.

Species Note[edit]

Parts of its flesh are poisonous. It has the ability, when threatened or alarmed, to inflate its body to almost twice its normal size. It becomes alarmed when netted, therefore, use a container to transfer it.
