Sexing[edit]

Difficult to sex visually.


Tank compatibility[edit]

Best kept in a species tank due to this fish's predatory nature. Can be kept with others of its own kind provided they are of similar size.


Diet[edit]

A carnivorous fish that may at first only take live foods but can be weaned on to other foods such as fish fillet and shrimp as well as some pellet foods.


Feeding regime[edit]

Feed once a day.


Environment specifics[edit]

Needs a large spacious tank that allows for plenty of open swimming room and some hiding places. A secure lid is a must.


Behaviour[edit]

An active and predatory fish.


Identification[edit]

A very elongate slender fish with large scales that are iridescent silver in colour, sometimes with golden hues, and a forked caudal fin. It has large sharp teeth which are always visible and can inflict injury.
