Also known as Ascorbic Acid.

What it Does[edit]

Used in the bone structure and is vital for disease resistance and wound healing. This is a vitamin that doesn't last long in food as it has a short shelf life so fish food manufacturers generally use stabilised vitamin C which lasts longer. If used in larger doses has been reported to help cure hole in the head disease.

Symptoms of Deficiency[edit]

Poor disease resistance, skin haemorrhage, damaged liver, intestine and muscle tissue, eye lesions and Scoliosis of the spine and gill deformities.

Prevention[edit]

Feed your animal at least three different types of food. This will ensure it gets adequate supply of this vitamin.

  • Don't use old food. Vitamins decay very rapidly once exposed to the air, heat or being frozen. Try to feed food that is no more than 6 months old.
