Nerite snails are from the family Neritidae, the nerites. They can live in freshwater. While their eggs can hatch in freshwater, they require brackish or marine water to develop into adults, with the eggs reported to hatch in really hard water. The eggs are usually white and hard, and difficult to remove from surfaces.
