It should be fed at least three times per week. It can be target fed.
Environment Specifics
Specific gravity of 1.023-1.025, a pH of 8.1-8.4, temperature of 72-78F, dKH 8-12. It requires calcium, magnesium, strontium and trace elements be added to the water regularly. It needs low to medium water flow and can be target fed for better results. It is difficult to maintain in an aquarium and is extremely intolerant of poor water quality. It is recommended for advanced to expert hobbyists because of its difficulty.
Behaviour
It is peaceful. It anchors itself in an area of moderate to high water flow to be able to catch food with its feather like crown that protrudes from the end of its tube. When disturbed it will quickly draw into its tube to protect itself. If stressed it will shed its crown and can grow it back later.
Identification
Colors range from orange, red, white, pink and yellow. The tube is made of calcium and therefor is hard.
