Carnivorous, should readily accept Mysid Shrimp or Clams, minced or on the half shell.

Daily, ideally 3 times due to their high metabolism and active nature.

Fish Only or large Reef Tank free of potential bullies, and with plenty of live rock for grazing and hiding.

Compatible with peaceful fish only. Will not bother most tank mates, but may fight each other with their horn-like projections if space is limited. Not to be trusted with small invertebrates or Corals.
Identification[edit]
- This fish mimics the Moorish Idol in colouring, and looks very similar to Heniochus diphreutes, with a disc-like body shape and two thick black vertical bars. It differs in that its caudal and pectoral fins are yellow, the base colour of the body is iridescent silver and the face has little black and no yellow colouring. This fish also exhibits the elongated scythe-like dorsal fin.
- Not to be mistaken for Heniochus chrysostomus.
