All creatures on earth have a unique species name which scientists use to identify a specific species. This name is commonly called the 'Latin Name' for the fish.

We use the scientific name for the fish here on the site because it is the only truly unique name for the fish. The fish you will see for sale in the store are almost always listed under one or more of their common names. Unfortunately common names are often made up by the local shop and can vary enormously across a country!
