Sexing
- Males have “dummy yellow egg spots” on their anal fins, these are absent on the female.
- Venting on adult fish is the most accurate and sure determination though. Females will have an O as where males tend to have a more V shaped vent.

Diet
- Algae which is scraped off of rocks using specialized teeth. In captivity they can be feed spirulina pellets, flakes, and a fairly wide variety of veggies. Excessive protein should be avoided, especially meats/fish etc, as it can lead to bloat, the number one killer of many Malawi Cichlids such as the Fuelleborni.
