Origin
- Coast of Brazil, near Sao Paulo
Sexing
- Males are brightly coloured, while the smaller females tend to be brownish-grey with a large black dot on the flanks.
Breeding
- To spawn these fish, you need to first feed them live food to induce spawning, then spawn them in a seperate tank with peat moss, which they deposit the eggs on. Then, collect the peat moss, where the eggs are now on. Dry, seal tight in a sanwich bag, and store on a shelf. After three months, replace the peat moss in a tank, where they will hatch. Fry are big enough to accept brine shrimp.

Identification
- An attractive fish. Elongated with a dark brown/black body covered in small white iridescent spots. These continue into the fins where there is also some banding. The dorsal and anal fins have fin extensions (most evident in the males).
