Sexing[edit]
- Difficult to visually sex.
Tank compatibility[edit]
- This fish is reef-safe, although it may dislodge fragile corals, but will prey on smaller fish and invertebrates. It is a reef-dwelling predator which forms harems in the wild with a dominant male and 2-12 females.
Diet[edit]
- Should be fed a meaty diet including krill, shrimp and small pieces of fish. Will also accept feeder fish but this is a risky diet option for captive fish.

- Feed once a day.

- These are very messy fish so need a very large and well filtered tank.

- A predator towards smaller fish and invertebrates.
Identification[edit]
- The Coral Hind can look like a red variation of the black-coloured Argus Grouper. Its colouration can vary as it does have chameleon-like tendencies. Its typical colouration is a red-orange with lighter broad bands running horizontally starting just behind the gill plate, and with brilliant blue spots covering the body.
