Macrophytes
From The Aquarium Wiki
Macrophytes are aquatic plants that are large enough to be apparent to the naked eye; in other words, they are larger than most algae.
Note: Large algae such as Nitella and Chara are also included in the category of aquatic macrophytes by scientists.
There are 3 types:
- Submersed - The plants grow 100% below the surface of the water.
- Emersed - The plants are rooted in the substrate and protrude up above the water's surface.
- Floating - The plants have leaves that float on the water's surface.
