- Cyprinodon ellipsoidea
Origin
- Euryhaline (capable of living in freshwater, brackish, and saltwater). From Massachusetts down to Central, and Northern South America
Sexing
- Males are generally larger and more deep-bodied than the female, with larger dorsal, pelvic and anal fins.
Tank compatibility
- Fairly peaceful, and are known to group
Diet
- Will eat anything that fits in their mouths.
Feeding regime
- Daily
Environment Specifics
- A wide variety of aquariums can accommodate them, can be put in freshwater, brackish, and saltwater

Identification
- A small fish with a thick caudal peduncle, with a short, square caudal fin. The anal fin's origin barely overlaps the trailing edge of the dorsal fin. These can be used to distinguish it from Mummichogs, which share a habitat with them.
Notes
