A wide variety of aquariums can accommodate them, can be put in freshwater, brackish, and saltwater

Identification

A small fish with a thick caudal peduncle, with a short, square caudal fin. The anal fin's origin barely overlaps the trailing edge of the dorsal fin. These can be used to distinguish it from Mummichogs, which share a habitat with them.

Notes[edit]

  • These fish readily spawn without much effort, and so thus are a popular species for aquaculture.
