Sexing[edit]
- The male is brighter, and has a concave ventral line; the female is more pale, has a convex ventral line and is slightly smaller.
Tank compatibility[edit]
- A relatively shy fish that will be outcompeted to food by more boisterous tank mates. Keep with peaceful fish such as Harlequin Rasboras or Pygmy Corydoras. Should not be kept with similar-sized territorial bottom dwellers such as Dwarf Cichlids, nor with other species of Badis as they may hybridise. These fish are also likely to nip at or eat shrimp.
Diet[edit]
- Feed meaty foods such as live/frozen bloodworm, brine shrimp or daphnia. These fish can be very fussy eaters and are unlikely to eat dry foods, they have been known to wean on to dry foods over time, but it is unlikely.
Feeding regime[edit]
- Supply daily with live foods.
Environment specifics[edit]
- Sandy bottom, with the shadow of floating plants, heavily planted thank, with caves, rocks and branches to provide hiding places.
Behaviour[edit]
- Peaceful, and although it can be territorial during the spawning season is less so than Badis badis.
