Tank compatibility[edit]
- Due to this size of this tiny fish it's best kept in groups in species tanks or with equally micro tank mates such as Pygmy Corydoras or Dwarf Rasboras. This fish is happiest in groups of 6 or more of its own kind.
Identification[edit]
- A distinctive little fish which is elongate and the body is iridescent green on top and red-orange below, red colouration is also evident on the ventral fin. These fish seem to lack the sensory lateral line along the flanks of the body, which perhaps is compensated for by their large eyes.
Species Note[edit]
- First discovered in 1976 by Dr Herbert Axelrod, this fish was originally thought to be Rasbora axelrodi but further research has reclassified it as being more closely related to the Danio family. A new genus was created for this species.
